Handanbey Camisi Gaziantep
16. yüzyılda Handanbey tarafından yaptırılmıştır.
1575 tarihli Ayıntab Vakıf defterinde adı geçmezken, 1596 tarihli Şer'i Mahkeme Sicili'nde kaydı geçmesi bu iki tarih arasında inşa edildiğini gösterir.
Yapı birkaç kez onarım geçirmiştir. Handaniye, Handaliye, Andaliye gibi adlarla anılmıştır.
Fransız işgalinde kıble duvarını delerek içeride patlayan bir gülle ile cami bölümü harap olmuştur. Cami onarılırken plan korunmuştur. Kıbleye paralel iki bölüümden oluşr. Ortadaki iki ayakla, çarpraz tonozla örtülü altı bölüme ayrılmıştır. Taç kapısı siyah, beyaz ve kırmızı taşlarla bezelidir. Minberdeki ahşap işçiliği özeldir. Minare palmez motifleri, rozetler ve çini tabaklarla süslüdür.
THE HANDAYBEY MOSQUE
This mosque ws built by Handanbey in the 16 th century. While not mentioned in the Ayıntab Foundation record book of 1575, the mosque is recoded in the 1596 "Ser'i Mahkeme Sicili" (Ottoman records kept by a Moslem judge), indicating that it was buit between these two dates. The building has been renovated several times, and has been known by various names such as the "Handaniye", "Handaliye" and "Andaliye".
The main part of the mosque was ruined when a shell penetrated the "kiblah" (direction of Mecca) wall and exploded inside during the French occupation. The original plan ws preserved when the mosque was repaired. It has two sections running parallel to the "kiblah". The space ise divided by two butresses in the centre and covered by six cross vaults. The portal is decarated with black, whitie and red stones. The pulpit is distinguished by fine woodcarving. The minaret ise decorated with palmate motifs, roseltes and plates of painted porcelain.
